A Message From The Principal

January 2012

Dear Friends of Holy Trinity:

Happy and Blessed 2012!

The New Year is here and as always, Holy Trinity is bustling and preparing for many significant events during 2012.  As you may know, we are continuing our celebration of our 45th anniversary of dedicated service to the Catholic high school students in the Diocese of Rockville Centre.  Our celebratory Mass in October was beautiful, and we were blessed with gifts that will enable us to install a cross on the lawn of Newbridge Road. This wonderful symbol will allow us to show the world that Christ is the reason for our school!  Look for this addition in the spring.

We are also preparing for the spring visit by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.  A team of five educators will visit Holy Trinity to examine and confirm our accreditation.  We are excited by the opportunity to demonstrate to fellow educators that Trinity is an excellent institution of higher learning and “a special time, place and spirit,” rooted in the Gospel values of Jesus Christ.  Our academic objective is to increase student performance on the New York State Regents, SAT and AP exams, while our student life objective is to enhance knowledge and understanding of our Catholic identity.

While all this is in process, we at Holy Trinity are also preparing our transition to the N.Y.S. Common Core Curriculum.  This transition is being mandated by New York State to help enhance college and career preparedness of students in the state.  I am happy to report that Trinity already employs many of the educational paradigms that the state will require, and 100% of the Class of 2011 reported that they were accepted and planned on attending college.  Therefore, we should be ahead of the curve.  I am confident in the readiness of our students and proud of the education that our students receive.  These feelings are confirmed when I hear the accolades from representatives at our local colleges about how they “love our students and that they are well prepared!”

As you can see, while this is a new year, the process of educating our students in the Roman Catholic tradition continues and is continuously reviewed and updated so that our students receive a Catholic education of the highest quality.

On behalf of all of us at Holy Trinity, I wish you a joyous 2012 and promise to keep you informed of our events and progress.

Regards,

Gene Fennell
